Yes, we had quite a temperature swing today. Good thing I bought the girls winter coats last week. Scored this one for Fi at 70% off! (Best looking $6.00 coat ever)

Bix won't actually wear a heavy coat, so this mid-weight jacket is perfect. (no, she isn't really cold...just being...Bix)

New Year...So Busy

Sorry for the absence, but as you will see, we have been very busy lately.
Bix had a trip to the dentist...looking good.

Fi has been busy tending to her new baby. (She is a very good mommy)

They both are. Always rocking, and holding, and "shushing" their babies.

Both girls know the importance of reading to your children.

Their has been lots of "reading" going on around here.

Playing with friends has also been high on the list of things to do. (Nice Cheetos mustaches ladies)

Fi has evidently been busy testing bathtubs at Wal-Mart.

We also had our Krewe de Roux 12th Night party last week.

So fun!

There has been a lot of football to watch (sic 'em Bears). We have also been cheering for the Saints!

And the Tigers too...

We didn't love the outcome of the game, but we spent a very fun evening with friends. (Thanks Brandon and Angie)

Bix didn't want to take her Tiger paw off today (she is a real fan). The girls also have been getting lots of quality time in over at Grandma and Poppo's.

Fi has been shopping for a winter coat, and scored this beauty for $5.98 at Target.

We have also been playing Angry Birds (live-action...not the touch screen version).

A Visit to Aunt Liz'

We had a wonderful day today. It started with a wonderful lunch that Aunt Liz prepared.

Choff-Choff!

After our bellies were full, Grandma, Too-Too, Aunt Liz, the girls, and I, went on Safari. Ok, not really, but we did meet some animals.

Fi ate more carrots herself then she fed to the animals.

Bix took to it right away.

Fi wasn't quite ready to get too close.

Happiness is...being held by Grandma.

This is close enough.

Before we drove home, Too-Too needed to check the score of the Florida Game.

The girls provided commercial entertainment, and continued to celebrate the new year. (Oh, and the Gator win...Too-Too was quite pleased)

We rang in the new year with our friends in the Atlantic Time Zone (10pm). Up until that time, the girls enjoyed the sundae bar...

and of course, the bounce house.

Party hats, noise-makers, beads, sparkling grape juice. Could it get any better?!

Not for long...and we have been moving at this speed ever since.

Santa's Village

As usual, everything about Santa's Village is sparkly and festive.

Bix was excited to meet and pose with the Cat in the Hat at the North Pole Library

Hanging out with old friends.

Here you see Bix and her elf friends from 2008.

They were new to Fi this year, and she didn't want any elf upstaging her.

Though you can't tell from this photo, the sleigh ride was very fun. (I think the girls were sad they didn't get to sit together)

This is the view from inside Frosty's house.

Neither girl was totally in love with the snowman...plus, Frosty seemed to be experiencing a migraine. (not sure about his helper either)

At the Beary Good Hospital both girls got weighed and measured.

Bix and Fi also spent some time being interviewed for K-ELF TV.

At the North Pole Police Station, McGruff the Crime Dog gave the girls hugs for knowing how to dial 9-1-1.

Bix stopped to pose with Mrs. Claus...Fi got a cookie from her and took off.

We rested by watching a few musical performances.

Then we headed home...we were all tiered out. So much fun!

New Hats

Since it is starting to feel a little bit like winter around here, I figured the girls should have their Christmas hat and mittens sets a little early.

The girls immediately showed us they were good for keeping heads warm, but equally suited for pretending to be puppies.

The older preschool kids put on a terrific performance of songs.

They were all decked out in their holiday best, and their biggest smiles.

Bix' class were the horses in the "Happy Birthday Jesus" song.

The concert was followed by a party of cookies, juice and laughter.

Fi thought it was pretty cool to get in on the festivities.

The mall didn't just have Santa sitting in a chair, there was a whole "experience" for the kids. Starting with comparing your height to that of the polar bear.

A Visit With Santa

As far as pictures with Santa go, I think this year is pretty good.

Last year was a little more difficult for Fi.

The previous year was just super-sweet.

We had a lot of fun with Santa, as well as Grandma and Poppo, playing on the playground, and lunch at the mall. You can look for some of those photos next.

Cousin Christmas

Since we won't be together for the big day, we let the kids exchange Christmas gifts early. Bix was jazzed about Strawberry Shortcake.

A doll that actually plays peek-a-boo was a huge hit with Fi.

Archie was totally into his Cookie Monster keyboard, but was understandably keeping a close watch on his cousin Fi. (she likes to take things from him)

As you can see, it is difficult to get the whole trio to look at the camera.

Seriously...these girls are loud.

Thankful Thanksgiving

So many things to be grateful for...I can't even begin to name them.
We had a lovely "Thanksgiving Week" with cousin Archie and his folks. Bix loves to love on her cousin.

I think we can all agree that Grandma is Arch's favorite.

Who are we kidding...she's everyone's favorite. (and who can blame them)

Auntie B made sure to get plenty of squeezes.

So thankful we got to spend the day with Aunt Liz!

Bix needed a few moments of alone time.

Fi, meanwhile, was trying to give Arch some sweet kisses.

I think the smile on his face means that Grandma "rescued" him from his cousin's love.

What comes next? After all that turkey, stuffing, and fun?

Pie and ice cream!!! With EXTRA whipped cream, of course.

After all that eating...we all had to kick-back and relax.

Then it was time to hit the stores for "Black Friday" shopping!

Thanksgiving Parade

This year Bix wasn't a Pilgrim or an Indian. She got to be a...

The whole class was dressed and ready to go.

You really have to see the costumes in action to appreciate them.

After the parade there was a lovely feast.

Even Fi asked if she could stay.

But once I told her we had to get going to see cousin Archie, she was ready to go. And who can blame her?

Shortly after our arrival, Grandma was on her way out. They were both really sad to see her go.

Poppo thought a walk around the block would be a good distraction. Fi was a big help.

Later, the cousins had a good chat.

Poppo enjoyed the post-walk playtime most of all.

Can't wait to do more of that tomorrow!

Another Birthday Party

Today it was time for Chuck E. Cheese. Bix' friend Noah celebrated his big day.

So much fun! (Yes, in case you were wondering, Bix has the remains of her jaguar face still on from yesterday.)

Noah didn't want to go in the "flying ticket" booth alone. He insisted Bix join him.

They spent most of their time (and tokens) on the roller-coaster-simulator ride. We couldn't ask for more.

It was a mighty grrrrrreat day for a parrrrrty. That's right, Colt's turning 3 and a Pirate party was the plan. The girls were dressed and ready to go!

Bix was so excited there was a face painter!!!!! This time she went with a jaguar.

Fi was very interested in watching Bix get her face done, but gave a polite "no thank you" when asked if she cared to be painted.

Here is the pirate/jaguar in captivity...ok, you are right, it is really a bounce house.

Fi found some buried treasure, and an eye patch that never quite stayed on.

This cat had some dirty paws after a yummy cupcake.

Fi had the one with the "X" that marks the spot. Delish!

The "Medical Team" was ready to go. Like all good health care providers...they were each armed with a bag full of lollipops to hand out.

Before getting the "treats", we started out at a pre-party with the neighbors. Here are Bix and K fueling up before hitting the streets.

Mommy could hardly keep up with Bix running from house to house. Fi was taking it all a bit more leisurely.

Costume Party

We all like dressing up. The girls really got into the wigs while Mommy and Daddy were getting ready for a party.

Good thing Mommy has lots of wigs...

Bix didn't know who Mrs. Roper was, but she thought the costume was AWE-some!

The Fire Chief, Tissue Box, and Honey Badger don't care.

Storybook Parade

The older preschool kids march around for the little ones dressed as a character and carry the book with them. Bix was ready!

A little bit of a change from last year's Gingerbread Man. The mask wouldn't stay on, so that was big motivation for a costume with no mask.

While Bix was marching, Fi was hugging...everyone. People she knows.

To the Pumpkin Patch

Perfect day with Grandma and Aunt Liz. Starting with a tasty lunch at Corner Bakery. (thanks Grandma...Go Rangers!)

Bix was ALL smiles. She has been talking about pumpkins for weeks.

Fi, while not as sure, warmed up quickly to the fun of choosing "just the right one."

My precious little "pumpkins."

One thing these two have in common...never looking at the camera at the same time.

This was about as close as we got.

Always helpful, Fi insisted on pulling the pumpkins to the car.

Bix was ready to get home and ride her bike. (Did I ever tell you Bix changes focus rapidly?)

Autumn Fun

We went over to Grandma and Poppo's to make candied apples. The girls were dressed in their new duds from Fifi, and ready to go.

Before we could make the apples, we had to help clean up after the storm.

Bix and Fi were all about the sweeping.

Fi even found a big glob of hail that hadn't melted yet...so cool.

Fi could have stayed there all day just pushing the broom.

Bix really wanted to get to those apples.

At last!!!

Fi was all smiles too.

Home Again, Home Again

What a wonderful trip! Sad that we had to go home, but we were able to convince the girls there was one more "ride" to go on...the airplane.

At the airport, Fi was a big help carrying the luggage.

Waiting for our bags, the girls were glad Mommy had packed some Cheetos.

I guess the trip is really over now. Our stroller (which never made it to us in FL) got home from it's vacation yesterday. We are all officially home now. Sigh...

Magic Kingdom...Day 2

Last day at Disney, and the girls were ready to go.

Nothing in the world like Main Street, USA.

We met lots of characters this day. Starting with Pluto.

While waiting to meet Mickey, Bix performed a little magic.

Bix gave Minnie a picture she drew, and Fi was all about the hugs.

Pirate Goofy greeted us outside the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Train ride around the park was a little break.

So much fun to be had!

They also met Aurora.

What could be better than topping all that fun off with a massive ice cream cone!?

We also hit the raceway again. Bix took her driving quite seriously.

Fi had a little less control, but based on the peals of laughter, could not have had a better time.

This family really loves the People Mover.

Once more we battled the evil Zurg to help Buzz Lightyear.

Three days of nonstop fun, and we could have kept going...

SeaWorld

We broke up our 2 days at Disney with a trip to see Shamu. The girls dressed and ready to go.

Feeding the sting rays was exciting (and stinky). The girls are still talking about it!

This was the angle from which we viewed the dolphins swimming around...very cool.

I was surprised, but Bix really wanted to ride Atlantis. Well, until we got on...then she cried most of the time, and insisted she wouldn't ride it again until she was "a teenager...or seven."

Bix was got a little tired, but the killer whales perked her right up.

We all loved them.

SeaWorld has a great area full of kid rides. The lines were super-short and the girls rode them all. Like these "jelly-fish" teacup-like rides that went round and round and up and down.

This one was like a mini conquistador (with a twist).

Bix pretended to ride the Kraken and be "totally scared!" Mommy and Daddy rode it twice and it took awhile to get our equilibrium back.

Fi couldn't really fake a scaredy face.

They both had a super day.

We were glad we had the double-stroller though...it was a long day.

Magic Kingdom...Day 1

Driving through the gate at the entrance to the Disney property was exciting. The girls saw huge, Donald Duck, Minnie, and of course...Mickey! However, after several minutes of driving and not even getting to the parking area, Bix announced, "Disney isn't what I thought it was going to be...it's just trees and cars."
Her attitude changed dramatically by the time we got to the front gate, walked in and looked down Main Street towards Cinderella's Castle.

Small World was an early attraction. So fun, and who cares if the song gets stuck in your head all day?!

Mickey's Philhar-Magic was a 3-D and all 5 senses experience. A little loud for Fi and a little too 3-D for Bix. Overall, it was pretty darn cool.

Just across from the philhar-magic is Prince Charming's Carousel.

Then we met our first character! We could barely get Fi to let go.

The girls got the White Rabbit's autograph, and then we were on to the Teacups.

Once the girls found out they could actually drive the cars...there was no keeping them off the Speedway in Tomorrowland. Bix was all business.

Even though Fi couldn't see over the steering wheel...she drove with all her might. (Slinging her mom and herself all over the track.)

We needed a break, so of course we hopped on the People Mover.

Then it was back over to Fantasyland to ride Winnie-the-Pooh and Peter Pan (gotta love FastPass!) This was the closest we got to riding on Dumbo. That line is always way too long.

This was really the "grumpiest" either girl got. They were trying to out "grump" each other.

Second ride on the People Mover. This time, when we went through Space Mountain the lights were off. Bix did not care for that.

Meeting Buzz made up for any lingering trauma.

We really like the People Mover.

We didn't make it to Dumbo, but Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride is essentially the same thing. Plus, it has the added bonus of "spitting" camels!

Main Street Electrical Parade and Fireworks topped off a truly magical day.

Sweet dreams...of Disney.

We're on Our Way

We got up super early Tuesday to catch our plane to Orlando. Fi was awake and ready to go...Daddy was catching a few more zzzzzzzs.

Bix had her suitcase (thanks KK and JB), and was ready to get to FL.

Once there, we checked out our sweet suite and hit the pool.

Florida is looking good so far, and we haven't even reached Disney World.

New Dresses

Happy Birthday Fi

Today is the official day...our little Fi is 2. We started out the morning with a trip to the doctor for a check-up (and only one shot). Fi was quite a trooper and the tears dried up as soon as she saw her lollipop. This visit she weighed 28 lbs (70th percentile) and measured 35in (90th percentile). After the lollipop, it was off to Target to get some groceries and some kind of cake for the big day. The lady at the bakery (who knows us well) gave Fi a cookie and a new pair of shades because it was her birthday. (Thanks Ms. Donna)

We have Ms. Donna to thank not only for the sunglasses, and this beautiful cookie cake that she made in about 5 minutes.

Bix, Grandma, and Mommy sang Happy Birthday.

As soon as she blew out the candles, Fi tried to take one off by grabbing the wick.

Poor thing.

She learned her lesson though, and stayed away from the knife.

Bix and Fi waited patiently for their slice of cookie.

Well worth the wait!

Fi even sang a little Happy Birthday to herself.

After dinner Fi opened her Birthday cards. Thank you everyone for giving our little sweetie such a special day!

The girls had a great time at the mall posing for pictures, riding the carousel, and dining at Chik-fil-a. The girls were looking very snazzy in their matching track suits.

Grandma called this Fi's "Mommy" pose. (I may plead guilty to standing like that occasionally.)

Liz and Fi

Today is Aunt Liz' birthday, and Fi's is Wednesday. So what did we do? We had a double birthday party, of course.
Bix was very helpful opening Fi's gifts.

This was the standard pose after each gift.

Fi likes opening presents on the counter because she can eat and unwrap at the same time.

Bix read Fi's card, "Happy Birthday." Then she opened the card, kept talking for a few seconds, and then said, "Hey, I can't read!"

The Bananas played another awesome game today! The Ladybugs (our opponent) were short a few players, and who do you think was the first Banana to volunteer to help them out and play with them? That's right, Bix. Makes me so proud...as a mom and a coach.
Post-game it was time for a celebratory lunch. Where else?

First Haircut

The unruly curls (which were actually looking pretty good today) had to be tamed. We, of course, headed over to Hair's Best Friend (yes, actually the name of the salon).

Fi was a little nervous...until Grandma showed up. Then it was nothing but smiles!

Up in the chair caused a brief moment of panic.

But Ms. Connie worked her magic, and had Fi relaxed in no time.

Fi sat very still and was complimented on how "grown-up" she behaved.

Pretty soon she was chatting nonstop.

Ms Connie made a new friend. (In no small part thanks to that lollipop).

Bix insisted we take Kosmo to the park. Fortunately, the cold front, that brought the temperature down into the 90s made that possible.

There was lots of sliding. (until the slides just got too hot)

Weekend in Shreveport

We had so much fun this weekend. Thank you CiCi, KK, JB, Grandmommy, Kosmo and Buddy. The girls were so sad that we actually had to leave you all.
The trip started with a delicious outing to Strawn's, followed by a visit to CiCi's office. The girls each took turns handling some business.

"Where is the rest of my mail?"

"How can I help you? Do you need a visa? Let me finish this contract."

"Wait, don't bother me...I am working on an H-1B."

CiCi's new office was great!

Later, of course, there was dinner at the Oyster Bar. Yum.

Never a dull moment. Cannot imagine if this one were actually twins!

Bath time is the highlight of the day for some folks.

The next morning we spent a little time relaxing with KK and JB.

Then it was time to go to Sci Port, but that is a whole other blog entry entirely.

Last Day With Archie

The girls were really sweet with their cousin. Bix was especially loving being a big-girl.

Oh, the indescribable excitement the girls felt when they found out their cousin was coming to town.
Bix was couldn't wait to get her hands on him.

Fi was excited but took a little warming up.

They bonded over drinks.

Archie loved every second.

Even though it was overcast and a little drizzly, the girls insisted Archie had to go swimming with them.

We all enjoyed a dip in the pool.

This was just day one. Stay tuned for more fun...Archie spent the night and the girls still can't get enough of him.

Bix and Fi are spending more and more tie playing together, which seems to mean more and more bumps and falls. Today it was Fi knocking her head into the door (when Bix dropped her). We quickly applied the ice pack.

Bix thought it sounded like a good way to cool down.

We have been doing our best to stay cool in our 100++ degree weather. The best antidote so far (besides staying inside with the A/C on high) has been the sprayground.

Another exciting summertime extravaganza! Starting the party was a celebration for H's 9th!

There has been a LOT of swimming.

Bix and H had a surfing/wipeout competition.

Both girls were winners.

Flying through the air is another favorite activity at camp.

Bix stayed overnight, and the girls had all kinds of good times. McDonalds, legos, movies, more swimming, etc...

The littlest camper wanted to get in on it too.

Even though Camp Stacey continues tomorrow...I still had to pry Bix' fingers from around H.

The cake that the girls were so excited about was of course Daddy's birthday cake.

Bix got out the party hats.

We got Fi cleaned up, then she decided she wanted more cake.

Bix and Fi play under the house and have a lot of fun. On this day they had a great time pretending the dirt and rocks were "pixie dust".

There is always plenty of good eating at Grandma and Poppo's.

Lots of fun around the table.

Always swimming.

This year Bix was much better at tubing, and enjoyed it a lot more.

Unfortunately Fi had a fever, and didn't enjoy that day quite as much.

Poppo's boat is always a good time.

Bix is getting better at driving.

But sometimes her sea-legs fail her.

Fi spent a lot of her free time carrying around this 10-pound exercise ball. "Heaby!"

Quality time reading with Grandma.

Lounging in front of the TV eating breakfast is a lake treat. (and already a bit of a tradition)

Both girls got a kick out of sitting so close to each other in the truck.

One of the highlights of our trip was getting to see our dear friends Sara Lee and Furgie. The girls had a blast "tickle-fighting" Mr. Furg.

Fourth of July

We had an amazing trip to HSV! Got home Friday and have been very busy, so apologies that it has taken a week to get photos of Independence Day.
It was a day full of fun...and swimming.

Of course there was fishing. Bix helped reel in the catfish, but then wasn't so sure about it.

At sunset it was time to get in Poppo's boat and head out onto the water to view the fireworks.

We had to wait for the sun to go all the way down for the show to start, so Bix entertained with some impromptu songs. (and a backwards life jacket)

And of course we had glow sticks.

Bix also helped Poppo find just the right spot for viewing the fireworks.

When it finally started, Fi was very focused on the show.

Who could blame her?!

What a great day.

Afterwards, we all needed a little snack. Apple anyone?

Then it was a massage for Grandma, and off to bed.

The theme of VBX this year has our kids exploring space and learning all about how awesome God is! We have been having such a great time, I haven't had a chance to take many pictures. I was able to catch Bix and her friend Gracie enjoying lunch this afternoon.

A Trip to the Dentist

Bix had her first visit to the dentist today. She was very excited, and quite a good patient.

She was ready to open wide and get to work. When the hygienist counted Bix' teeth, we realized she is 2 shy of normal. That is why there is such a big gap...

We had a little down-turn of emotion during the x-rays. With the combination of the heavy apron and not being able to get the film in the right position, we finally settled with one shot. (But we were able to see that she has the buds for all her adult teeth).

When it was time for the cleaning, Bix asked for some shades.

That light is seriously bright.

Bix assisted by holding the vacuum.

When it was all over, she was all smiles. (The promise of a new toothbrush and a toy from the Treasure Chest didn't hurt).

We had a fantastic day! We celebrated Daddy with hand and fingerprints (among other things).

Then it was off to see Grandma and Poppo, and go for a refreshing swim. We gave Poppo these swim trunks, and then took his favorite shot of the day (possibly the year).

We had so much fun while visiting HSV. There was riding on Poppo's boat!

Each girl took a turn at the wheel.

Of course there was swimming off the side of the boat.

The girls were so excited to see their cousin this weekend. It seemed like the only thing Fi had to say was "Aah-chie" or sometimes it was "Aah-chie...AAH-chie!!!"

Other times it was "where Aah-chie?"

Bix was totally into him too.

But she had other things to do too...like pose.

Fi wanted all Archie all the time. (who can blame her)

Bix likes being the oldest, and taking care of the little ones. Even aboard ship she was looking out for Archie-kins.

We were all sad to see him leave, but I think Archie will miss his cousins just as much.

So much fun! The kids played games.

We had our annual crawfish boil/pool party, and this year both girls had a blast.
Fi checked out the food.

Went for some mudbugs (that Daddy had peeled).

Ate faster than we could hand them to her.

Total satisfaction.

Bix was more interested in the pool.

Jay made a new best friend...Bix loved every second of it.

Fi thought that was funny.

Weekend in LA

We had a terrific time visiting CiCi, KK, and JB. In total we travelled over 1,000 miles in the car. The girls had much more fun with KK in the backseat.

First stop...the Audubon Zoo! Here we have Bix posing at the front gate in front of a statue of John James.

Fi relaxed for a few minutes in the stroller, but didn't stay there for long.

Bix was our tour guide, and she studied the map very carefully.

Time to climb Monkey Hill.

Fi spending time with JB.

Fi enjoyed the Bayou section of the zoo.

The zoo comes complete with an awesome water park. Bix loved it...Fi not so ready to get wet.

We were all tired out.

But that didn't stop us from having fun at the wedding!

In the morning, it was off to Cafe du Monde for some beignets.

The girls played dueling spoons, and mostly ate spoonfuls of powdered sugar.

Like father like daughter.

The Mississippi was a little higher than normal.

In Baton Rouge we got some close-up action with Mike.

On the way home we stopped for an ice cream break. I just love how these two are learning to share.

My sweet Bix had quite a lovely array of handmade treats for me.

We spent the weekend doing lots of fun things, and the girls were on their best behavior. We had an awesome time at the Myers' crawfish boil. Delicious food and...face painting!

Nothing says "I love you Mom" like a Spider-girl face.

The girls were well occupied with games and other kids, so mom could eat some crawfish.

Fi was fishing in the water-cooler, not the beer.

At Charlie's birthday party in the park, the girls played so well together.

They even shared a shady spot under a tree for a snack break.

As a mom, I really couldn't of asked for a lovelier weekend...
